How can I find authentic local experiences while traveling in Europe?

What I mean is I don't want to only see my destinations through the eyes of a tourist. I'd like to immerse myself in the local culture and do the things the locals do, not just go sightseeing and do other touristy things. Does anyone have any tips on how to experience Europe like a local?

If you want to fully immerse yourself in a new culture, then you are going to want to stay away from high-end hotels, package deals, and exclusive tours.

Instead, take a step outside of your comfort zone and stay in local accommodation, avoid familiar restaurants and eat what the locals are eating, venture further than the mentioned tourist attractions, and simply walking around instead of taking a direct trip to your destination can bring you to some of the most authentic experiences Europe has to offer.

Apart from this, volunteering, couch surfing, or staying at a homestay are all wonderful ways to meet locals and find a piece of their culture.
