Using Hotels.com for special occasions like honeymoons or anniversaries?

I'd like to surprise my wife with a long vacation to Barcelona, as our 25th anniversary is coming up soon, and she has always wanted to visit Spain. Our daughter suggested I check out Hotels.com and perhaps book our trip through it. I do see plenty of hotel options that I like, but I'm not quite sure it's the right choice of company for the occasion.

Would you recommend it? Has anybody here perhaps used it for their honeymoon or anniversary? Any opinions would be appreciated.
