How can I find affordable accommodations when traveling to France?

I don't have any specific plans yet but I'd like to see as much of France as I can, so I'll need affordable accommodations at all the places I visit. I'm not sure what's the best way to look for hotels and such in France, so can someone tell me where to find cheap accommodations? Thanks!

If you still want to stay at a hotel for cheap, you can take a look at some popular websites like Hotels.com, Booking.com, or even Momondo, which aggregates deals from other travel websites.
